Travel before Advanced Parole approved?

I just filed I-485 with application of AP for me and my wife. Is it ok for my wife to go back our home country right now? I can wait here until AP get approved, so that I can mail or take AP back. Is there any legal problem here (for my wife)?

By the way, I am a H-1 holder. My wife is holding F-1 with OPT which will expire next March.

I thought that one cannot travel out until the AP is approved unless you have valid H1/L1??? If a person has F1 status, isn't that superceded by I-485, making them an adjustee and therefore needs to stay within US until AP is approved and not merely filed? If one can travel out before approval, that would be great cos I'm waiting here for my AP to be approved. Is this true??
