TD Visa Extension

My wife is a non-Canadian citizen on her TD status and I am a Canadian citizen working here in the United States on a TN visa. My TN visa is set to expire on August 2019 and my wife's TD visa is set to expire on April 2019. We are planning to go to Canada to renew her TD visa. Here are my questions:

1. Since my wife's TD is expiring in April 2019, she is planning to go to the consulate and get a new TD stamp on her passport. Is it possible to get that TD stamp on her passport for 3 years, since my TN visa expires in Aug 2019? Initially when my wife got her first TD stamp from India, she got it for 3 years.

2. Will there be risk of not getting the TD visa since there is only like 4 months.

Please advise. Thanks

What is the date on her I-94, that is what matters while in US.
Her TD visa will only be granted for the period you have TN, so you would best be extending your TN forst befreo going for visa, and extending her I-94 from within US until then, if necessary
