Since Switzerland joined the 'Schengen' agreement, the same rules apply as for a 'Schengen' visa. Greencard holders are NO LONGER exempt from the visa requirement (before December 2008 a visa was not required for GC holders now you most likely need a Schengen-visa, depending on your situation - see link below).

Switzerland has joined the Schengen visa scheme on December 12, 2008. Therefore all foreign nationals residing in the USA who require a Schengen visa will from that date onwards also require a Schengen visa to enter Switzerland. The Swiss visa desks can only accept applications from persons whose main destination is Switzerland.

US GREEN CARD HOLDERS ARE NO LONGER EXEMPT FROM THE VISA OBLIGATION FOR SHORT STAYS IN SWITZERLAND.

but according to the document green card holder need no visa. Plus I am not leaving the Airport ... I will be in the Airport for 3 hours to connect to my flight.

no u don't need an airport transit visa. the document that dago red is mentioning is talking about short stays meaning up to 90 days, and not airport transit visa.

Again, it depends on your passport. If you have an Indian passport and a GC you're fine. You don't need a Schengen visa fo airport transit. If you have for example an Afghani, Iranian or Iraqi passport and a GC you will still need a Schengen visa (see document columns 2 and 4) - this is at least how I read the document.
