Brother of one of my friends had sponsored him for US immigration in 1980. My friend is a Pakistan national. He had received approval from the U S Embassy, in Karachi. According to him he had submitted some papers for completing the immigration process some time in early 90s. He says that he has office copy of all those papers available with him. Due to personal reasons he could not complete the remaining procedure. In 2001, he and his wife applied for Visit visa to US stating that his brother had sponsored him but due to personal reason he did not persue the case further. Since 2001, he and his wife have visited US about 4 or 5 times. He now wants to know if the old case of his sponsorship can be revived or it has been closed permanently. An early reply will be highly appreciated.
