sponsoring my father with I-30 and I-485 at the same time

I am a US citizen and planning to sponsor my father. Can we apply with I-130 and and I-485 at the same time. How long does it take for I130 approval in texas or other locations?.

pros and cons of I-130 and 485 at the same time

I understand it will take 4 to 6 months for the approval. Once you apply with 485, u cannot leave the country without parrole. By applying together, you get the gc 6 months earlier.
Please correct if I am wrong here.
