Refarding H1B stamping

Hello,

I am in the 5 th year of my H1.
My H1B and my dependents (H4) is valid till Aug 15, 2008 (today is May 9th, 2008). Our stamping (H1,H4) expired in Feb 2007. My company has applied for our extension, but it's pending with the california center. We have to go to India this June for vacation and plan to come back in August. Before going to india if I get the extension approval, we can take that for stamping. But if it doesnt come by that time, then have to carry the old I-797 which is valid it Aug 15, 2008 forstamping.

Question:
Since our I-797 is still valid, can we go for a visa stamping with our current I-797? Will there be any problem?

You can go for stamping with the old H-1B approval notice if you are currently working for the same employer. I am not sure about the fate of the pending H-1B extension petition in that case. Can someone add here?
