Hello,
My husband (UK citizen, expired H1B visa pending AOS) and I (USC) were
married in July 2005. We got everything done pretty quickly, and have
our interview on June 19th in Garden City, NY.
We have a family wedding to attend in Europe the following Saturday
(24th) and have flights booked for the day after the interview. As a
backup, we applied for Advance Parole in the beginning of April
(processing time is supposedly 30-60 days). The status of the Advance
Parole is pending, and it supposedly wasn't received until April 24th.
There is no reason that the interview should not go smoothly on our
part, as we are legit, and I believe we have enough evidence to support
us. My only concern is that the background check may not be ready, and
that my husband may not get the I-1551 stamp in his passport.
My questions are:
-If the AP is not approved in time, can we make an Infopass
appointment, bring all of our documents, and perhaps expedite the
process? An immigration lawyer told us that this was possible, but i'm
having doubts.
-Has anyone interviewed in Garden City recently and gotten the stamp?
I've heard that they do not stamp passports anymore, but, again, I'm
not sure that this is the case.
-About how long does it take to receive AP from the time you are
approved?
And if anyone has any thoughts on what we can do, it would be much
appreciated, or if you have an opinion on whether or not we should look
to cancel our plans, or stick it out and hope for the best...
Thank you.
