plastic card information

Hi Ciba /others,

Does any body know how long does it take now a days to receive plastic card after Passport stamping.I have heard stories of people taking 5-6 months .Is this true? How safe is it to travel outside of the US and change jobs with just the stamp in your passport.

Once the passport is stamed how soon can we change jobs ? Is there any restriction.

I will appreciate if anybody can share some information /thoughts .

Of course you can try to start this thread too, it\'s up to you ...

The stamp IS the proof of your PR status. Travelling with
the stamp should have no problem. As for changing job,
it all depends on the "intent," that is, you should not
leave yourself a loophole of being interpreted as changing
job immediately after getting your green card. It is
advised to wait a few more months. There is no definitive
answer to this.
