Hi,
Just curious to know if anybody encountered this situation.
I got married in April this year in India, came back to Canada and filed my wive's sponsorship applicaton (I am a Canadian PR) in May. The file was approved in Canada and send to New Delhi in the last week of June. New Delhi now sent a letter to my wife requesting for her passport. Passport reached New Delhi consulate on 2nd August.
Her passport expires on 16th February - roughly 6 months and 2 weeks after the passport was received by the New Delhi consulate. Will she be OK with the validity of the passport or will the consulate request for the passport to be renewed? Some say the passport needs to have 6 months validity and some say it's a year. The problem is takes 3 months to renew a passport and the Indian guys dont accept passport renewal requests until 6 months before the expiry. Sort of a catch 22 situation here. Would appreciate if anybody's been through a similar situation.
