Passport Expired

Hi Gurus,

I have US green card (received last year) and my indian passport expired this year (Mar 31st), which I just forgot to renew so far and now in the process of getting it renewed.

My question is, if I go out US and while coming back, is it going to be an issue in terms that INS might ask, why there was a gap between valid passport or what happened...stuff like that and any other issues with that?

Please advise.

All that matters is that you have a valid passport. Nobody really cares for the previous passports or about any gaps between renewals.
 
As nkm-oct23 stated, you won't be asked any questions at port of entry.

You can leave the country on an expired passport, as long as you are going to your native country (where the passport was issued). From there on you need a valid passport.
