Parents applying for N-400(US Citizenship)

second stage

Registered Users (C)
My parents are couple of months away before they can apply for N-400(U.S Citizenship) and am trying to do the math regarding 'Physical Presence' and 'Continuous Residence'

Appreciate your help.

HTML:
Resident Since 8/8/2009
4 years and 9 months	5/9/2014

Days in US	Days outside US
August 8th, 2009 onwards 67 59
2010 198	167
2011 214	151
2012 217	148
2013 184	181
As of May 9th - 2014 7	121

	Total 887	768

30 month Physical Presence = 930 days

First day eligible for N-400 would be -> 6/21/2014

Is it accurate to say they are not eligible on 5/9/2014 but rather on 6/21/2014 ?

The physical presence requirement is 913 days in the past 5 years, not 930, so they would be eligible to apply in early June 2014. But they should still wait a few days more to avoid problems with USCIS miscounting by a few days (yes, it happens).

However, if the 181 days outside the US in 2013 were consecutive, or they otherwise had 6 or more consecutive months outside the US cutting across different years*, the continuous residence requirement could be a problem for them.

*of course, 6 consecutive months within the same year is also a problem. But the only possible instance of that here is in 2013.

Thank you for clarifying the 913 day requirement.

I'll have to double check the dates one more time and as you suggested, better to be safe and apply a few days later from the day you are eligible.
