Hello,

How long does it take for an O-1 approval from Vermont Center? My application went to VSC in the second week of May. Surprisingly, I got notice date of June 1, 2001. Till now I have not heard anything back from VSC. Is there anyone with same problem?

I sent my case to VSC in the last days of May with an overnight mail.
The receipt notice was sent to me on the next day.
The O-visa approval was sent just a week later, on June 8.

Hi Masik,

Thanks for your update. did you file for premium processing?
My application is stuck somewhere. I do not know why? It is really frustating. My lawyer told me that VSC has a problem on front end in there mail room.

I filed for the regular processing, and it was a surprise for me to get it approved so fast.
Indeed, VSC has 2 problems: front log and backlog, and both are huge.
I know this since I also filed I-140 (EA) in March, and filed O-visa application
in late-May because I was not sure that I-140 will be processed before my J-visa
expire.
In case of the O-visa, I think, they were tricked by my overnight mail suggesting that
it was for premium processing and opened it immediately. That is why it was so fast...
However, if you don\'t hear from them in 3 months (regular processing time
for H1-visa; I took the estimate from this web site), I would ask the lawyer
to call to VSC to speak to a representative.

Thanks Masik. I have another question. Did they contact/call your references? If INS contacts my references then it means they are atleast working(?) on my case. I am in the same boat and I filed my I140 in second week of April.

I don\'t think they contacted anyone. First, most of my referees are in Europe
(e.g., Germany), second, they would let me know.
Besides, all the papers I submitted were copies.
In case if they have some doubts, they will rather send you an RFE.

The reason of the delay in your case is probably that since June 1 they
started to consider H1 and O-visa cases alltogether. (That is why I sent
my file overnight.) The conclusion is that you should check how fast H1 cases
are moving.

Good luck !

Hello,
Congratulations!
How many re. letters did you submit along with your application?

Thanks.

Five or six. There is no any official rule.
From the web I learned that it is better when they are from different
countries, thus showing your international recognition.
It should be said that you "have reached the top in your field of endeavor"
plus many other good words describing impact of your work on the field...

Supposedly approved but still waiting...

My lawyer called on July 24th to say he had bene told informally that my O had finally been approved (it was filed in January), but I still haven\'t received official notice. The lawyer has sincew gone back to ask for a duplicate for of the confirmation, but nothing yet.

Anyone heard of anything similar?
