NEXUS card experiences?

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with the NEXUS card for crossing between the US and Canada?

A year ago, when passports became mandatory for air travel across the Canada-US border, there was an unprecedented rush to apply for passports. I'm curious why people didn't apply for NEXUS cards instead. The NEXUS card is still supposed to be acceptable as an alternative to a passport and it seems to be cheaper and less of a hassle than a passport.

Do people, in practice, actually use this card?

i have nexus, it is nothing like passport, and not used by air in most places, your passport if you have one is tied to your nexus, if not, they still sometimes ask for other IDs, and they will only give nexus if you have business crossing the border on a regular basis.
