New H1B visa

Hi,

I had officially filed for my H1B visa on 30 April, 2002. I received my EAC number in May, 2002. However I have yet to receive my H1B visa. How long is the Vermont Service Center taking to process H1B visas these days? My student visa expires this month and I am anxious to get my H1B visa before that.

If you do not have travel plans, then there is nothing to worry as it is okay to let your F1 visa expire. But note if your OPT expires soon, then you cannot work until H1 is approved, although you can stay in the country. In that case I would say go for premium processing. It is better to get H1 and be working because your income for even a week is likely to compensate the $1000 premium processing fee.
