Can somebody shed some light on the "name check" process.
1. Is it done with FP or is it an independant process?
2. Is it a bottle-neck typically ?
3. Is the status/result of name check updated on online case status?

1. Independent process.
2. Not always.
3. No. It is never updated.

There is no way in which you can find it except when you proactively send email to FBI to find it out.

Do you know at what stage the name check is performed ? Is it before I-140 approval or after I-140 approvel ?

There is no such thing as 140 approval or pending for name check.

It is done when 485 is pending that is all.
 
Hi Jharkhandi,

Please give the email address for the FBI to query the status on a Name check

That is the indication of 'name check cleared'. Jharkhnadi, the guy knowledgible, well wisher, renders genuine info. JK keep it up, soon I'll come up with additional info. regarding special registrants, as you provided in the past, could help several of us a lot. Sorry, I forgot referenced thread.
