My US Citizen brother petitioned for me 13 years ago. I just received DS 3032 in india. He has just received the approval of my petition which he is supposed to sign and send back. Unfortunately he is not in a position to sign it right now. How long can he hold off to signing the approved petition before it becomes invalid?

Please let me know soon.

I'm not sure what you mean by having to sign the approval? If what ever is requested should be taken care of ASAP to avoid further delay. Nevertheless, I believe once the I-130 is approved, the Service Center will notify the consulate, which will then notify you for the next stage. I'm not sure why they need him to sign off. The one thing that comes to my mind is that you may be talking about the affidavit of support.

But overall when ever a request is made by the INS, it's always best to respond ASAP.

Good luck
