More than 3 years now?

I've been waiting for more than 3 years after recieving the reciept letter in August 2002. I've been a PR since August, 1996 and applied I-130 for my spouse in July 2002. But as of now I've not recieved anything other than the reciept notice. Is this rather unusual or normal? Also can my spouse visit me during this wating period? Thanks.

for PR applies for spouse, it takes longer compare with USC applies for spouse. Three years? I am not sure, depends who is your DO, in new york, it is normal to take more than three years. I have been pending for more than two years, and my wife is USC. guess it all depends on DO and luck.
