Lottery photo background

My parents want to apply for the green card lottery and got their US passport photo professionally done at a local Photo studio.

The photos have come back with a grey coloured background. (They sat in front of a grey background).

Will this be accepted?

On the FAQ page, it says "Light-colored Background - The subject should be in front of a neutral, light-colored background"
So I guess grey is fine.

Except on the photo examples it says the background has to be white.

Also my mom forgot to remove her bindi from her forehead. Will that be an issue?

(Sorry, I can't post links, as I don't have enough posts).

Light grey is fine.

I don’t know what a bindi is but the instructions are clear about what head coverings etc may or may not be there so suggest you re-read them.

The background on the photos is more of a medium grey as opposed to a light grey. Will that be okay?

A bindi is a small dot placed on the forehead. It's smaller than a coin. It doesn't cover the head. The instructions don't mention it.
