Hi,

Has anyone applied for an L-1 visa and was required to take the INS approval notice to the local US consulate?

What kind of questions were you asked? Which consulate did you go to?

Thank you very much,

Hello,

I attened the interview long back in Hong Kong. I took all the documents and was asked general questions like how long I work, what is the business type, nature of job, etc., and in addition was asked to show the company financials and company reports etc.,

New L1 rules?

I have three questions on L1 visa.

1) If a company has a blanket L1, then can an employee come to US on blanket L1 after serving 6 months overseas?
2) Can the GC process start immediately after arriving in US?
3) Is labor certification required for people who come under blanket L1?

You do not have to prove non-immigrant intent with L1

It is perfectly OK to want to settle in the US permanently after entering with L1. The law says no proof of maintaining residence in country of origin is required.

in the UK...

Dear Manju,

My understanding is this:

L1 is best applied for in the US by the sponsoring subsidiary. Thia takes 30-60 days. Once the approval is redy it is sent to your consulate.

A friend of mine did this and went to the US embassy in the UK. He was not even interviewed (I assume becasue the INS had rubber stamped it!). He was in and out in half an hour!

My research shows:

1. Yes
2. Yes too
3. No Labor Certification necessary if the visa was L1A (ie executive or manager). The company can apply under EB1. But if visa is L1B, specialist knowledge worher, then Labor cert is required. Avoid it if you can!
