Hi,
I am a US Citizen, in love with my class mate from college, he is divorced in NZ but married in India. Is divorce in NZ is valid to get married to him or he needs to divorce certificate from India? Please advice.
Thanks

A divorce in NZ = divorce valid everywhere in the world.

Did he marry another person in India after the NZ divorce?

Thanks for your reply. Actually to be honest the divorce is still in process, his divorce will be finalized in April.
To answer to your question, no he is only married once and waiting the divorce.

Until the divorce is final and a legally-binding divorce decree issued by a NZ judge/court, he remains married and not free to re-marry.

Thanks for answering. Yes we know that and we are planning to get married only after divorce decree is issued by NZ. We were wondering the divorce in NZ is valid to get married since he his current marriage happened in India. Thanks for answering the question.

You’ve listed this as K1. That is a fiancé visa. If you plan to marry before he moves to the US you need to sponsor him under CR1.
