Hi All,

Is it ok to apply for DV when an employment based 485 is pending ? Is there any advantage or disadvantage ?

I am also going through the same process and my number will be current in October. My employment base I-485 has been transferred to my local USCIS

Yes, depending on your DV case number. I have employment I-485 pending and did apply for DV

Is there any advantage

Fewer conditions
After your green card, you are not tight to your currently employer

Disadvantage?
Respond:
If you have been out of status, you have to show you filled application with labor certification before April 30, 2001.

If your DV is approved first, your employment based I-485 would be cancelled but you would still retail your “A” number.
