Is Help :: Indian Passport starting with E extendable.

I have been issued an Indian passport which starts with E. This was issued for a period of 5 years in 2002 in Mumbai. Most of the Indian passports numbers start with A.

Can you please tell me if the period of passport starting with E can be extended upto 10 years. Or should I request for a new passport.

I think it depends on the country and consulate where the passport is issued. My original passport that was issued in Hyderabad,India starts with A for 10 years and the renewed passport in New York starts with F issued for 10 years.
 
its strange to see an adult passport with 5yr validity. i was thinking only baby will be issued 5yr valid passport as their face will change.

you will not have any problem in getting 10yr passport. i got mine from Washington DC office extended for 10yrs. my daughter 4yr also got 10yr passport with her old passport starting with E.
