Need help in finding out if H-4 is employer dependent?

Details: If H1B is working for say company X with current I-94 valid till 12/31/2005 (spouse is on H-4 with I-94 valid till 12/31/2005) and moves to Company Y with a new H1B (I guess it is H1B transfer)...should this new company Y apply for a transfer of H-4 for the spouse?? If Company Y doesn't file for the spouse's H-4, is the spouse considered in status since she has a H-4 valid till 12/31/2004 (ofcourse this is of Company X). Is H-4 employer dependent??

Any insights will be helpful.

Thanks,

H-4 in NOT employer dependent. Since her H-4 is valid till 12/31/2005, there is no need now to file for H-4. But remember to file for H-4 extention before I-94 expires.

while filing for labor certification ... does anything need to be done for H4 visa
Nothing......
Also, no employer will apply for extending or renewing H-4 it si the H1-B holders' responsibility.
