If USCIS issues 485 receipt notice after expiry of current authorized stay, can I stay?

I hear USCIS is taking 4-8 weeks to issue receipt notices for 485. My authorized stay on B1 ends mid-Dec. Am I authorized to stay if USCIS issues receipt after that? What if they inform me of rejection of petition after mid-Dec and not face overstay and ban? Does USCIS take same time to reject as they take to accept? Any way to find out faster by calling etc?

The form is stamped with the received date when it arrives at the lockbox. Even if it takes 4 weeks for USCIS to issue the receipt notice, they will be aware of the fact that it was received on a particular day. If you were in valid status on the received day, the form will not be rejected as an untimely filing. However if it is rejected for any other reason, you will be overstaying and will have to leave the US ASAP.
