I came here to the united states and over stayed my visa, and now I am in high school preparing to enter college. I just found out that I am an illegal alien which I did not know about. my only option is to go back home and not return for 10 years therefore wasting all my hard work in school and my extra curricula talent. I wish I had read your post earlier. There was something call the LIFE Act which allows some illegal immigrants (read the details of the LIFE Act at http://www.ins.usdoj.gov to see if you qualify) to become legal residents.
 If you cannot find a way to legalize your status you might face some major problems when applying to College/University because you have to fill out your immigration status in the enrollment form.
