I-485 pending 180 days, moving abroad for a year

Hi Rajiv and friends,

I applied for employment-based I-485 on Oct 30 along with a EB2 -> EB3 downgrade.
I-140 approval is still pending, but it's been 180 days since the I-485 receipt date.
I am still waiting for biometrics, EAD and AP.
Citizen of India.

Hypothetical scenario: Leave the US for 1 year, after I get my EAD/AP combo

1. Do I need to withdraw/abandon my AOS petition immediately, convert to consular processing, or wait until a year and re-evaluate?
2. Say my I-140 is still pending at the time I leave the US, is that an issue? It's unlikely my employer will bother to withdraw the petition.
3. Are potential RFEs during this time a concern? Can I provide a non-US address to USCIS, or a friend/family mailing address during the year I live abroad, assuming that my i485 petition is pending and valid?
4. If I do decide to get a job offer and move back to the US within a year/while EAD is valid, can I do so using the existing I-485 pending status and EAD?

Thank you!
Sri
