I-485 Approval - VSC

Hello,

My “I-140” got approved July 2004 and my finger printing was done October 2004. I am still waiting for the approval for my I-485. April 2005, I had done a inquiry and got the reply back that there is a backlog due to shortage of manpower. What I do not understand is if the current date on USCIS web site for Vermont Service Center is April 2005, then why older files are still not cleared. Moreover, when I call the 1-800 number for information (on repeated trial) it keep giving a automated response that due to a system problem they cannot access my information currently and politely asks me to call back later.

I am sure I do not understand something in the process. So any help in clarifying the issue is greatly appreciated.

Thanking you all in anticipation
