how to take appt. for G5 visa in Chennai consulate

Hello,

I wanted to know what is the procedure for taking an appt. in Chennai consulate for G5 visa? Since it is a diplomatic visa, do I need to take an appt. or can I walk in or do I just mail the papers to the Consulate? Does anyone have any idea?

Pl. help!! There is no information on the Chennai consulate page. I called the American consulate here, they did not know the answer.
