How long does it take for CP from start to end ?

Hi

I got my 140 Approved. Waiting to hear from NVC. As my visa dates are current, how long does it take now to get the total CP done in Canada (until I get my immigration visa stamped). I live in Canada. Will there a time frame for my landing.

Hi Sonali:
It depends on various factors. However, it seems to take about 8-10 months, give or take a few months, if you have all documents in order and the visa dates are current.

Here is my time line (IR5 category)

Timeline:
22 June 2008: I-130 petition
04 Sept 2008: I-130 Approval from CSC
09 Sept 2008: NVC Entered Date
16 Sept 2008: AOS Fee Bill
21 Sept 2008: AOS Fee paid online
01 Oct 2008: DS-3032 recd
01 Oct 2008: DS-3032 submitted via email
07 Oct 2008: IV Fee Bill generated
08 Oct 2008: IV Fee Paid online
11 Oct 2008: I-864 submitted using cover sheet from NVC web site
23 Oct 2008: NVC sent notice of receipt of I-864
29 Oct 2008: DS-230 and docs submitted
10 Nov 2008: RFE for some originals
26 Dec 2008: submitted docs
06 Jan 2009: Case Completed
13 Feb 2009: Interviewed and Approved!
17 Feb 2009: collected passport
 
My father was called in 2 months after I submitted his paperwork but ended up waiting a year for his background check.
 
When I called NVC phone line, status is "Waiting for Biographic forms from lawyer".

Our lawyer doesn't update me as the case moves.
 
How should I get notified from NVC or should I call them. INC has appoved my in-law's I-130 last week. Please, help

Usually NVC gets back to you or your attorney (in case the attorney has filed your petition) on its own. There is no fixed time frame, but four to six weeks is normal.
