How long After the start date can the employee start ?

My friend got her H-1B Approval Notice, starting on March 21, 2011 for three years. If her new employer agrees, may she start working for him a few weeks later, and not exactly on the H1 Visa Start Date? Is there a time-limit of when she can start? Assume that she is meanwhile in status (H4 from her husband).

When she starts working for the employer is strictly between her and the employer, so long as it is after that date.

That's good news for her! I will tell her that if she wants to start working a few weeks (or perhaps a few months) after that H1 start date, then it should be fine, as long as her H1 employer agrees to this, and as long as she makes sure that she remains in status (H4 from her husband).
