H1B 6-years expiring + Visa stamp in Mumbai + H4

Dear List:

1) My H1B Visa expires on Nov24, 2002
2) My Approval Notice expiry date is Jan 31, 2003. (however, my 6-year limit expires on Dec 21, 2002)

A) I want to get a new Visa which will reflect my Approval Notice date, so I am planning to go to Mumbai US Consulate to get it done in November + I am getting married in November.

Does anyone know, how things are in Mumbai US Consulate to get a new Visa stamped for the H1B? How many days it takes? Anyone aware of rejections? Any caveats?

B) I also would like to apply for my future wife's H4 at the same time (another caveat is that she is of Moldovian nationality; but I was told by the Mumbai Consulate email response, that she should be able to apply in Mumbai consulate, since I got my H1B from there) - does anyone know if they will give her a H1B, even when my H1B may be validated only till Jan 31, 2003? Does the US Consular question why I want my wife to come to US, if I have only 2 months left on my H1B?

Your feedback and experiances will be very useful. Thanks in advance to the list.

H-1B 6 yrs expiring

A. Go to the following website, you will find valuable information regarding US Consulates : www.travel.state.gov

B. It should not be a problem for your future wife to get her H-4 stamped in her passport once you are married, although nothing can be guaranteed.
