H1 Visa and court records

Hi all,

Having misdemeanor (for Battery) court record will effect H1 processing...or getting visa stamped.

In other words, will INS verify court records when processing H1 B work permit or will Embassy people come to know when processing H1 Visa (when we go for Visa stamping).
