Grey area concerning E-3 admissibility date.

There seems to be a grey area concerning the relationship between an LCA, i-94 and physical visa,, and I'm wondering if anyone has any input.

Even though the I-94 details the period of authorized stay, one cannot work on an E3 visa after the date on their LCA has expired.

There seems to be different opinions, even amongst lawyers, concerning this.

The first school of thought is that the original LCA is somehow tied to the physical visa, and as that was used to apply for entry, the visa must be renewed every 2 years, with a new LCA, in order to maintain legal status.

The second school of thought is that if the i-94 allows for the duration of stay to progress beyond the date of the original LCA, then all one needs to do is simply obtain a new LCA up to the "admit until" date on the I-94, to maintain legal E3 status whilst in country.

I have looked far and wide and there seems to be no consensus on this.

Wondering if anyone here has any input.

Thanks for your time.
