Green Card for Mother

All,

I will really appreciate if yyou could help me answer the following question.

I am green card holder. Can I apply for my mother's greeen card?

I have a lot of uncles and aunts who are US citizens, can they apply for her greencard knowing that her son already has a GC?

Basically I am looking for ways in which I can get her to immigrate to the US given my status and given the fact that she has brothers and sisters who are US citizens. And how long does it take for family based cases?

Any response greatly appreciated.

Much thanks,
DJ_Don

must be a U.S. citizen

Hi DJ_Don

As far as I know Only a US Citizen can apply a green card petition for his/her parents, brothers and sisters.

Your US citizen uncles and aunts (brothers and sisters of your mother) can file I-130 under F4 famiy preference for your mother.
It may take over 10 years under F4 catagory.

hope that's help

Actually the current wait is at least 12 years for brother/sister of US Citizen.

Your best bet is to file for your mom after you have become a USC

Thanks folks

I just got my Greencard about a month a ago. How long does it take for a person to acquire the US citizen ships?

Thanks again for posting your replies.

It depends

It depends on what category you fall under. The waiting times vary depending ony your situation but 5 years is normal in some categories. It would still be much faster than waiting for adjustment as the sibling of a US Citizen.
