From South India but got Mumbai for CP, is there a problem??

I requested for Delhi, got Mumbai

I was told the reason, I received Mumbai is because before leaving India, my last stay was in Mumbai.

My understanding is that Lawyers indicate a preference, under some guidelines in I140 and then INS/NVC approves it.

I think

The consulate will definetely ask you why did u choose Mumbai when u come under the Chennai Consular district. One of my friend had a similar experience but it is quite opposite. He comes under Mumbai consular district (his passport was issued in Mumbai and permanent address is also Mumbai), but went to the Chennai for his CP interview. When he was asked the same question, he told that their parents moved from Mumbai to Madras and also currently they don\'t have any roots in Mumbai. He did not have any other problems and completed successfully his CP.

I have not gone through CP int yet, but lawyers say

since I lived in Mumbai before departure from India, that is taken as my address in India for deciding consulate.

you should be fine!!!

generally they consider your last residence in India before leaving to US.
