FBI Name Check question

I was curious regarding this issue with FBI Name Check for GC applicants.

If for an Applicant are two applications filed concurrently (I-130 and I-485) which one depends on FBI Name Check?

I believe is I-485, but out of curiosity, can the other one I-130 be approved without the FBI's clearance?

why,are u missing those 2 golden years of ur life??? :D

MY I-130 was approved without any FBI check or FP...but again, I applied in April 2001 and it was approved in May 2002.

It's the actual adjustment of status that needs the background clearance.

So, it's just the I-485.

I thought so. Thank you for your reply.

Thanks to EricNess too.

There is security clearance and verification involved with the I-130.
The G-325A submitted with the I-130 has a purpose. Each sheet of the G-325A is sent to different agencies for verirfication and confirmation before the I-130 is approved.

I agree with others. The FBI namecheck depends on the I-485 with a combination of fingerprints and G-325A that covers the criminal check, name check, background check and all other checks.

Name check timeline

Hello all,

Are there a lot of us out there who have/had to wait for name check clearance after passing the interview? What are the timelines (after interview)?

We did our interview last month but my GC approval is pending name check (finger print check cleared). The officer couldn't give us a time. he seemed to expect it to drag on for months.

I would like to learn more about this part of the process.

Is it pretty much out of the hand of USCIS? If it drags on, what are my options? Now is the name check "localized" to the FBI branch near my DO?

Thanks in advance for any information provided. Y'all have a good day!

Transfer FBI name check

My husband is going to apply for citizenship in october. He just got a job in Federal Bank and they are processing his FBI name check and fingerprint at this point.

Is it possible to transfer those results to FBI to skip the process at the time of citizenship? I believe it does not expire until 15 months.

Please advice.
Thanks in advance.
