EAD Renewal Application pending over 90 days and current authorization expiring soon

My current employment authorization expires in 2 days. I haven't heard anything back on my application for renewal. The customer service expedited my service request but no progress so far. I also made an Infopass appointment but the officer there said they cannot do anything about it since the application was not filed here. But she did talk to her director and told me I can continue working since I have filed the renewal application well in advance. I wanted to double check is this is true? Has anyone gone through this?
