I have received EAD card and I am currently on H1B. My I-94 is valid till Feb 2007.
---------------if you dont use EAD then you are on H1 status till feb 2007 and can remain and work on H1 till I-94 expiry date and later you can use EAD. it is better to be on H1 status file the H1 extension before I-94 gets expired and new H1 extension approval will have I-94 attached and extended till H1 extension.
Do I have to travel to (Canada/Mexico/India) and come back on AP?
--------Why?? if you want to go for H1 visa stamping once you get H1 extension approval then keep valid AP with you as back up if problem in Visa stamping. if get Visa stamp then use Visa stamp to enter US
