EAD and SS card

Seems there is a backlog as well. My spouse applied SS card based on EAD. It has been 30 days. Called SS office, and was told it was pending verfication/confirmation from USCIS. .

How is your experience? Anything we can do to expidite the process? Thanks.

Do nothing just wait, my wife got it after 1 month, SS is not required for job, it is the EAD which you actually need most.

EAD and ssn

I am not sure why ssn is taking so long for u...maybe too much rush at the center where u applied. I got in within 10 days . Maybe u shd do some follow up the case. Its true that ssn is not reqd for employment but the W4 forms which u need to fill out after getting a job do require ssn... so ssn is a must...

No, it's not a must. If you don't fill out a W-4 they withhold at the highest rate.

@tri_nj did u apply ur SSN on H1 or EAD? i heard that it takes longer time when u have a status change... I just got my EAD (H4 to EAD) and applied for my SSN...
