Hi,
I'm on a H1 -B1 visa, valid till Feb 2007. I stepped into the US on 26th Aug 2003. and got my H1 Extension on 24nd Feb 2004(The same day on which my H1 will expire).
I approached The Huntsville(Alabama) drivers license office in the month of October 2003 to get my drivers license, and was denied as I had only 5 months left for my visa to expire. The personnel at the Drivers license office said that I should atleast have six months on my visa to get a dirvers license.
I got my renewed Visa in Feb 2004, and it is now valid till Feb 2007.Now, when I approached The Huntsville Drivers License office, Alabama they say they are not issuing dirvers license to any H classification Visa holders as per the instructions from the INS.
I dont know how they expect me to go to work with out a drivers license.Could any one of u help me out of this problem.Do let me know of any alternative solutions.
