Does TN visa become invalid as soon as one contract ends?

Does TN ends once I lose a contract ie laid off or I leave the contract?
Can I stay back in the country?
Does the company always inform the border about a candidate's role that it has ended?

I know we have 60 days to stay back in USA.

There is no obligation for the employer to inform anyone that you are no longer on TN. That only applies to H1-B. You have the 60 day grace, as long as your I-94 has at least 60 days left on it.
