discrepancy in N400 processing

Hello:

I have submitted the N-400 application on June 27, same as my spouse. We were both scheduled for fingerprinting on July 14th. However, she received the Interview Date notice three weeks ago, whereas I have not received it yet. Her case status disappeared from CIS website after receiving the notice, however mine is still there and not updated. I am wondering what could cause this discrepancy in processing time. Our center is Detroit. I am a little worried for them not to have messed up my fingerprints or maybe it is something else.

Anybody on this forum who has been in a similar situation could guess what could be the reason?

Thanks a lot,

Dan

Your FBI name check may not be back. If everything goes smoothly that takes 72 hours. I think now interviews are being scheduled after name check clears.

Thank you for your reply. If the name check is the bottleneck, then I may be in for a long wait. That would be strange though, given I have no FBI record whatsoever and my name is really not common at all.

I started an identical thread after experiencing the same issue. My wife and I were finger printed at the same time, but since then she had her interview and oath ceremony appointment. I am still waiting for my interview date.

During her interview, she asked the officer why I wasn't scheduled for the interview as well. The officer told that USCIS is now having the name check/background check done before scheduling interview. He did not have anything specific on why more delay on Men Vs. Women.

Is it possible to ask the officer at the N400 interview to give the list of questions (10 civics/history questions) to be asked on a print out rather than orally asking those questions?

Why would you do that? One of the goals of the interview is to have the imm. officer test your knowledge of English -- asking for something like that would just put doubts in his mind (unless you had some physical reason (like a hearing problem)).
