Digital Pictures for I 485?

The photo requirements for the I485 are very stringent, and leads to expensive photos. Did any of you use a digital camera and home printer to create these photos? Or do you know where to get them for a correct price?
Thanks,

try costco if there's one near you. I think it's like 10$ for 4 photos but very very cheap compared to other places.

if i can get GC i dont mind paying for photos, looks like u have not waited too much for you GC.

Try it out and let us know. Hey i go to a photo shop the guy uses digital camera there, so may be u can try.

Dude/Dudess,
Dont show your stinginess here. Spend an extra couple of bucks and avoid the hassle of BCIS. This is only if you want a GC early. If you have plenty of time, keep trying with the pictures.

Mr. Penny Pincher, goto a photo shop which specializes in immigration photos. Don't take chance with digital camera and printer. INS sends RFEs very frequently if the photos do not conform to the specifications.

It cost $20-30 to get a photo from a good place. Is it too much money? Let me guess, you live in one bed apartment with a wife and two kids, drive beaten down car, never enjoy life.... I am sorry to write this, but some people really get under my skin.

Thanks Guys, I really got good responses here, I'm still laughing.
If you think paying $80 for your pictures is going to make your case go faster, try paying $500 for them, you never know, they may like it so much...
The GC lottery accepts only digtal pictures, so I guess they are ok with it.
With the current processing time, 8 years, or 8 years and 3 months, who cares.
I'll let you know if I get RFEs, or if I get anything at all.
Have Fun!

I did that...

I did take pictures with my digital camera but got them printed at Costco (I think they charge app. 19c per 4x3 in which I could print 6 immigration style photos). But I used them for my GC stamping where the risk is very minimal (please note that if they were to be used for EAD, AP and if some one has to go through RFE for improper photos then it is not worth the risk in my openion).

Here is what I did.
1. Took app. 100 pictures using my digital camera with variations (light, position angle etc.)
2. On the computer I picked two pictures with proper phose.
3. Adjusted my monitor resolution and photograph size (used 6000x4000 resolution) so that it measures 4x3
4. Cut the photograph and past it in such a way that I can align 2 rows of pictures (3 per row each) by making sure that I followed BCIS specification to the dot (measurements of head, distance between chin to cheek etc.).

I got really great photograph and I still feel very proud of them when ever I see my picture on my GC.

It's very easy to messup but I think it is easy to figure out if it's messedup or not by looking and measuring the end product. I did it because I was into this digital photography and wanted to make it work and especially wanted to put my expensive Digital camera to use.

If you need any more info please let me know.

Goodluck

Hi PCee,
Thanks for your answer, I too have an expensive camera and printer. I've done all my pictures ID with it and the result is often much better than the one you can get in LongDrug, ..., as I generally spend much more time to get a picture than they do.

I'm doing all my GC/AP/EAD photos with the local Chinese guy named Alfred who does them for $12 a pair. Knows no English, only numbers. I know no Chinese, not even numbers.

I got photos from Ritz camera. They also use digital camera nad take prinouts. So I think it should be OK if one do that oneself. Just use very good quality paper.
Actually I am not fully satisfied with photos as it does not match fully with ideal photo printed on specs. I told that to Ritz Camera nad they told that they take photos like that only.
Any one may suggest me if any one used Ritz Camera.
Thanks

i use the Safeway. they do it for $7.99 for 4 immigration pics. and if for any reason BCIS rejects the pics they redo it for free.

you got some free time Dude :D

You may be ready to wait 8 years.. but I think the agony over the thought that the pics may or may not get rejected will surely kill you, until you receive your approval.

I get mine done at $22 for 4 pics. Worth the peace of mind. I can use my skills at digital photography by launching a porn site and make tons of money. :D :D

Pictures look great

We did it, it took us some time, but we have perfect pictures, much better than the ones you'll get in Wall-Mart, Mall, Target, ...
If you want to leave your destiny in the hands of Safeway (2nd set free if you get a RFE, yeh that's reassuring!), it's up to you.
What makes you think that the Safeway guy cares more than you about the pictures?
Penny wise and pound foolish, under the reign of terror... Read the posts in that threads my friends, you'll see fear, fear from the unknown bcis. The same fear is part of our history, that's how populations were kept under the rules of kings ... But realize one thing, you come to the US for freedom, so don't be afraid to act and to think.
See you in hell guys, I mean in the long waiting lines of bcis.

Get the first one manual (chinese guy ???), ask him to give you the digital file. And then use it to print out later pics.

That way, you are atleast sure that your source conforms to CIS reqs.
