Designated POEs vs Non- Designated POEs

Hello,

In September 2014, U.S. Customs and Border Protection designated ports of entry (POEs) for optimized processing of first-time Canadian applicants for admission in the TN or L-1 categories. Designating POEs for optimized processing ensures a more efficient approach to processing the high volume of TN and L1 applicants.

just wondering has anyone obtained TN from Non- Designating POEs? For me , the Designating POEs is 9 more hours to drive than the Non- Designating one.

Thanks

You'd need to explain that one. Where do you live? And what are the 2 POEs you are trying to choose between? And what did each say when you called them?
Given the current border situation, it is unlikely that a POE that was not issuing TNs would all of a sudden, now, start.

All POEs could issue TN. Those Designating POEs for optimized processing ensures a more efficient approach to processing the high volume of TN and L1 applicants.

I am a first time TN and L1 applicant – am I required to go to a designated port of entry?

No, you may continue to go to any port of entry along the Canadian border for processing; however, we encourage you to go to one of the designated ports of entry where you will receive optimized processing.

Well, you would CALL FIRST. I would go to the closest POE, regardless of that list, that is accepting TNs.
