I am a graduate student who is studying in the US for few years now on F1 visa.
My situation is that I was arrested by campus police and charged with Cyberstalking. I didn’t really commit any wrongdoing and my criminal defense attorney assured me that I am not guilty and the charges will be dismissed.
The problem is that I am planning to go back to my home country soon and would like to renew my visa. It will be early renewal since my visa still has about 10 months to expire.
I am afraid of the renewal process since some people said this case might prevent me from renewing my visa. They claim it might look like a CIMT case. Is that a problem even if my case is dismissed with no formal deferral program?
