Hi,
I was born in Australia in 1996 to a US-born mother and my father was born in Australia, I know at the time of my birth my mum enquired with the USA embassy in Australia about becoming a dual citizen with Australia and getting us our duals for American but at the time we couldn't get it.

I've read some information regarding the N-600 and N600k forms but unsure if I qualify because I am over 18 and the fact my mother hasn't lived in the US for the required time. my grandparents though lived in the US for 20+ years and my grandfather served in the US armed forces.

my mum and her parents moved to Australia when she was 4 and live permanently here but never gave up their US citizenships.

could anyone help me with some info regarding if I am able to get citizenship through my mother or if I have to naturalise the normal way?

Again Thank you for your help.
