Two of my friends work for a company that got acquired yesterday by a Canadian company. One of them is 4 months into 485 and another is 7 months into 485. Do both of them have to do their I-140 again? How are they impacted and does having completed 6 months help in this scenario. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

IMO everybody is confused, including the INS. Your friends should really get a good lawyer that will not only interpret the law for them but will also stand by them at the INS interview (if one shows up) and explain his decision to the Immigration Officer.
I apologize for not being able to volunteer more information. The above is how I would approach this situation - BTW, I am waiting for my interview at the local INS office :-( .
