Canada PR Processing Time

Hi,

I have applied for canada PR in Dec 2010 through canadian agent. He is telling me that current processing time is approx 18 - 24 months, while I have read in newspaper that they are giving PR within 6 - 8 months.

Please tell me Who is right? What is current processing time? How soon I will get PR?
