Can Somebody explain to me RFE, RD, ND

Hi I have filed my I-485 on May 16th EB2/RIR, no receipt yet. But Can somebody explain in detail, what is the difference between Receipt Date and Notice Date. And also what is meant by RFE and what is it\'s significance.

RD is when INS received ur appl.

ND is when INS issues a Notice for ur appl.

RFE stands for Request for Evidence. RFE is issued if IIO ( Immi. Officer) wants to clariy something on an application.

significance of RFE is that once an application receives an RFE, it generally leads to whole lot wastage of time.

.... unless the case is transferred to the local office in which case the wait time is even longer.

But what does it mean "INS issues notice for my application" ? does it actually start processing AP/EAD or has it some other siginficance.

 these terms are very ambiguous
 RD-- receipt date the INS receives application physically
 ND-- date your application data is entered into computer system
 But my lawyer says that ND is the date the INS sends a receipt notice
 So, then why it is different from RD
 On what date is WAC# generated on RD or ND.
 Also how does one receives ND?

 In general ND is about a month after RD.
 I still do not get the exact meanings.
