Can my friend who lives in a diffrent state be my joint sponsor

I don't think so. if co-sponsor does not live with the sponsor, he/she must claim the sponsor as the depent in tax return

what kind of co-sponsor is it?
if your co-sponsor has to fill form I-864A, read the instruction of that form

Joint sponsor files I-864. He does not need to be your relative, does not need to live in the same state nor in your legal residence to that matter. As long as he is citizen or legal permanent resident, lives in the USA and makes more than 125% of poverty level. I-864A is another form, if the person wishes to use somebody, for example a relative who lives in the same residence as you for at least six months prior to filing. This does not apply to your question.

Yes they can sponsor as long as they meet the 125% poverty guideline. If they don't then someone who lives with them in the same household's income can be used, jointly. (I-864 A). It doesn't matter if they live in same state or not. Hope all works well for you.
